Who performs the sacrifice

Every slaughterer on Naseekah is named and has signed a pledge that they know the rules of slaughter and will treat the animal gently.

The slaughterer's pledge
  1. I am a Muslim, an adult, and of sound mind.
  2. I know the rules of a valid slaughter: to say Allah's name over the animal, to use a sharp blade, to cut the windpipe, the gullet and both jugular veins in one quick motion, to let the blood flow out, and to wait until the animal is completely still before cutting further or skinning.
  3. I know the conditions of the rite I'm carrying out: a sound animal of the right age and, for udhiya, slaughter only after the Eid prayer and within the days of sacrifice.
  4. I understand the weight of this act. It is worship, done on behalf of another person, and I will carry it out as carefully as if it were my own.
  5. I will be gentle with the creatures of Allah: give them water and calm, keep the blade out of their sight, never slaughter one in front of another, and never drag, throw or frighten them.
  6. I recognize that Allah has favored us by permitting this sacrifice and the meat it provides. I will do it with gratitude and humility, not as routine work.
  7. Everything I record in the app is real and from this animal. I will never stage, reuse or edit footage.
“Allah has prescribed excellence in everything… let each of you sharpen his blade and spare the animal suffering.”Sahih Muslim 1955 · meaning

What their proof includes

Every order: the seal, weigh-in, sacrifice and hand-over, each on camera with a code that only exists at that moment.

This farm also films

  • Names said aloudThe slaughterer says the names of those it's on behalf of. It isn't required for a valid sacrifice, but many families like to hear it.
  • Meat handed out on videoThe farm or NGO films the meat reaching families, with their faces hidden.
